Nvidia launches virtual GPU monitoring, analytics

To date, virtual GPU environments have been harder to track relative to physical infrastructure.

Nvidia will launch monitoring software that will better track usage and optimization for its virtual graphical processing environments.

The graphics processor company has been pushing into high performance computing, enterprise servers, and virtual desktop systems.

According to Nvidia, the latest version of GRID, which will land August 26, will include GRID Monitoring, an analytics system to track graphics virtualization.

To date, virtual GPU environments have been harder to track relative to physical infrastructure. Now GRID Monitoring will track virtual GPU types, performance, and usage across companies and clusters.

GRID Monitoring includes:

  • Discovery tools to query virtual GPUs.
  • Insights on properties such as name, displays supported, maximum resolution, frame buffer status, and license status.
  • Utilization reports that track engines for 3D, encoding, and decoding.
  • GRID Monitoring can be used with native monitoring tools, via virtualization and management consoles from companies like VMware and Citrix and custom applications.
